VHF has on-going contact with businesses and trades people in the conservation field. However, for reasons of insurance and liability VHF cannot recommend a tradesperson. We are happy to pass on contact names for you to choose from at your own discretion and responsibility. Not all professionals will be versed in heritage conservation. When hiring any professional ask for references and to see projects they have worked on to ensure they have the appropriate experience.

Professionals you may want to consult include, but are not limited to:

  • Heritage Consultants – advise on a variety of heritage matters including statements of significance & conservation planning
  • Architects – architectural planning services
  • Landscape Architects – natural, cultural & historic landscape conservation & planning
  • Craft & Trade Specialists – built heritage restoration & conservation
  • Certified Energy Advisors – building energy evaluations
  • Historians – historical research, analysis & interpretation
  • Archaeologists – archaeological assessments & impact mitigation

Trades Lists

Below are lists of trades persons that have been passed on to us by homeowners and professionals who have been happy with their services. We have been told that they have experience working with old buildings, renovations or heritage restoration. For liability reasons, Vancouver Heritage Foundation cannot legally recommend any of these trades or companies.

We would greatly appreciate your feedback on working with any company we passed on to you, or to be notified about a change in their contact information. Likewise, if you find a trade or company you would like to recommend to others, please tell us about them.

VHF periodically verifies the status of businesses however we cannot always guarantee the information provided is up to date.
