Recipients received a cash grant of up to $7,500 per project (maximum of 50% of the cost of the project) for the painting of the original exterior cladding of a heritage building in historical colours from the Vancouver True Colours palette. The goal was to support restoration and maintenance of heritage buildings. A heritage consultant provided by Vancouver Heritage Foundation determined the original colour scheme of the building. The paint schemes funded by the True Colours grant were either the original scheme or an authentic alternative scheme for the era and style of the building. Houses were required to be on the Heritage Register and in good, original condition to receive the grant.
True Colours projects continue to be supported through the Heritage Conservation Grants program. Learn more here.
