SALVAGE NEWS
The 2012 Salvage Sale was held on Saturday May 12. With 16 volunteers and some staff, a great deal of donated material was sold to heritage supporters and people doing projects such as renovating an old kitchen and incorporating heritage stained glass windows as the centerpiece. People bought doors, cut glass door handles, light fixtures, a vintage theatre seat pair that will be restored into funky tv room seating, and a mix of other donated items. Thank you to our volunteers and visitors for making Saturday May 12th a success!

2012 salvage items included fireplace inserts and fire tools, Clayburn bricks and guilded ornamental plasterwork from the Pantages Theatre, a partner desk, pedestal sinks, and stained glass windows. We had many matching sets of doors but still have a complete set of antique matching door hardware for 14 interior doors for sale - just needs the right home!

Fireplace insert, Pantages guilded plaster, a vintage working electric fireplace & windows.
Thank you to Cressey, the warehouse owners who have donated the warehouse space for the Salvage Sale, and to all of the generous donors - we will find new homes for these many items while raising funds to continue to encourage heritage conservation in Vancouver.

The first Salvage Sale, May 2011
The VHF's first warehouse salvage sale was held on Saturday May 14th, 2011 in a warehouse in Richmond. Close to 1000 people attended and over $10,000 was raised that day for the VHF! After the success of Hotdogs for Heritage in 2010, it was evident we could generate funds to continue the VHF's mandate of heritage conservation while preventing salvage from either going to the landfill or sitting unloved in basements and garages around Vancouver.
If you have items you would like to donate for a future sale please contact mail@vancouverheritagefoundation.org with photos.
